The official announcement has just been made that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has won the Permatang Pauh by-election with a majority of 15,671 votes. The results are:

• Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PKR) 31,195 votes.
• Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah (BN) 15,524 votes.
• Hanafi Hamat (AKIM) 92 votes.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s win will return him to the Parliament for the first time after a 13-year absence.
