The death toll in Myanmar now stands at 22,000 dead so far with another 40,000 missing. The devastating Cyclone Nargis that swept through the country early Saturday had also left an estimated 1 million people homeless.
As with all other disasters of this magnitude, what’s left behind now is nothing short of a serious humanitarian crisis. The victims and survivors need a lot of help and Myanmar’s ruling military regime appears to acknowledge the fact, signaling that it will welcome foreign aid supplies. This unusual gesture could possibly also pave the way for major relief operations by international organisations. Here are just some of the videos and images of the disaster in Myanmar: 1 COMMENTS
