Hopes for a reduction in electricity tariffs anytime soon were dashed yesterday when it was announced that the tariffs will not be cut despite the huge drop in crude oil prices. TheStar reports that:

Energy, Water and Communi­cations Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said despite the fall, it did not directly affect the cost of electricity generation.
